This torrent contains The Sims 2 with all its current expansion packs.The Sims 2 and its expansion packs are packaged in individual 7z archives, whichneed to just be extracted somewhere. The Sims 2 needs some registry entries too,however, so I wrote an installer program which extracts the selected 7z archivesto where you choose and sets the registry entries accordingly. The installeralso extracts the splash images of your selected language to the game'sdirectory. The source for the installer is included too (using the GPL licence).Note that Happy Holiday Stuff is included in the core game, as the archive nametells, even though the installer reads different. Happy Holiday Stuff isn'tkind of 'stand-alone' like the other expansion packs, so I thought the mostelegant solution would be to include it in the core game archive.As I briefly tested playing The Sims 2 without CD keys in the registry, itworked, but if there's a need for some generated CD keys regardless, I includedpre-generated CD keys for each expansion pack as a.reg file (except HappyHoliday Stuff, which doesn't have one) and the core game. The installer allowsyou to set/edit them manually too, but this might save some time for someone.The file 'Uninstall data.reg' is included in case some external utility or a newexpansion pack needs to be installed which might need these registry entries.The file paths, however, are fixed, and probably need to be modified (unlessyou use the same paths).The Sims 2 CD had VP6 video codec installer, which might be needed by some, soit is included too.

Also included from the CD is the 'Grow Your Sims' that isnormally executed during the game's installation. I didn't write any helperscript/program for it, but it's very simple to use it. Rename the files prefixedwith the locale code you want to use to external.txt and Sims2Logo.jpg andexecute First15.exe.The core game and all expansion packs that had a patch available were updatedto the latest version, except for the first two expansion packs: University andNightlife. For some reason I couldn't apply the patch to those two, but thatprobably doesn't matter if the patches only change the executable files.the directory mini-images contains mini-images for all expansion packs.The filenames are prefixed with the 'short name' of each expansion pack or thegame for convenience.

The prefix is followed by the original filename.I made this torrent since I got tired of the time consuming install processwhich required too much user interaction and the amount of space the discimages used. This release requires the least user interaction (that I could do),while (hopefully) allowing to set all the same options and all game data isefficiently stored in 7z archives, which reduces the size to about 66% of theoriginal discs. The installer program should install each of the selected games sequentially, so you might just check all of the 'games' (core and expansion/stuff packs, though they're selected by default) and install to some directory.Depending on how many of them you select for installation at once, it should take a while as it extracts all the files to the selected directory. There is no progress indication however.The only requirement, that I know of, is that you have to have the core game installed to play anything else. It seems an anti-blacklist program (e.g. YASU) is needed for the exes to recognise the CD image. I tested this torrent's files on just one winxp machine I had access to.

It worked for what I tested, but the installer probably doesn't take into account enough things to work properly in some situations. I cannot spare any more time to this however, so I won't be improving the installer or finding out why the game doesn't work. I hope someone else will though.One thing I noticed a moment ago though, is that the installer's file dialog gives only relative paths for the registry entries, which might cause The Sims 2 to not run properly. Typing the full path (e.g. 'C:The Sims 2 base dir' to the edit box might help).
